Underground Mining Farm in Mexico Shut Down Over Graphics Card

Underground Crypto Farm in Mexico Dismantled Due to GPU Noise

Mexican authorities discovered and shut down an underground crypto farm in the mountainous terrain of Puebla state. The facility was disguised but betrayed itself by the noise of its operating equipment.

The raid was conducted jointly by the Attorney General's Office, the Navy, and regional police. The building was located two kilometers from the nearest settlement, yet the hum of the graphics cards could be heard from more than a kilometer away.

Approximately 300 graphics cards used for cryptocurrency mining were seized on site. The farm was situated next to a hydroelectric power plant and operated by stealing electricity.

In addition to graphics processing units, law enforcement found complex electrical equipment:

  • about 80 medium-voltage terminals
  • a transformer
  • eight satellite dishes for communication where wired internet was unavailable

This is already the fourth such illegal farm discovered in the region since the beginning of 2026. These cases draw attention to the links between organized crime and financing through cryptocurrencies.
