First Glasses Display with Retinal Image Projection
Japanese company TTD has unveiled the world's first smart glasses display that projects images via laser directly onto the retina. Unlike traditional solutions, this technology employs a flat meta-optical mirror just 150 nanometers thick.
The mirror is coated with nanoscale reflectors whose reflection angles vary depending on their position on the surface. This allows the device to capture laser beams incident at various angles and direct them into the user's eye.
At this stage, the prototype can only display monochrome images. Partner company QD Laser plans to release a color version with 4K resolution in the coming years.
Live demonstrations of the technology will take place at the CEATEC and electronica exhibitions in October and November of this year.
