US Banking Regulator Calls on Small Banks to Enter
The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has officially recommended that American banks consider issuing their own payment stablecoins. The regulator suggests using subsidiary companies of financial institutions for this purpose.
The goal of the initiative is to simplify regulatory requirements and adapt supervisory procedures. This will allow small banks to effectively compete with large financial organizations and crypto companies in the digital assets market.
