Three.js r187: Rendering 2 Billion Polygons in the Browser
The release of Three.js r187 demonstrates impressive browser rendering performance. The demo video shows a stable 60 frames per second while processing nearly two billion polygons.
A key new feature is the MeshletDrawingPipeline, which breaks down complex meshes into clusters of 64 triangles. The GPU efficiently culls invisible elements, and simplified models (LOD) are applied to distant objects.
All millions of polygons in the demo were created using the Opus 5.5 tool. This solution opens up new possibilities for integrating large language models and 3D graphics in web environments.
