Spotify checks residential addresses for Family subscriptions

Spotify has started verifying the home addresses of users with Family subscriptions. To confirm cohabitation, a QR code must be scanned, which refreshes every few seconds.

Verification process and deadlines

Users have 7 days to complete the verification. If they fail to meet the requirement, their Premium account will be suspended. For one year afterward, they cannot join another Family or Duo subscription.

User reaction and workarounds

Some users are already looking for ways to bypass the check, such as showing the QR code via video call. However, Spotify insists that all subscription members must genuinely live at the same address.
