Ring Smart Lock with Charge Generator from Amazon
Amazon has unveiled its first smart Ring lock that can be opened even with a completely depleted battery. Unlike competitors relying on USB ports or "9V" battery contacts, this model features an integrated generator built into the rotating handle.
Charging the battery requires only turning the lock's handle a few times. This brief action generates enough energy to unlock the door. Once inside, the battery can be fully recharged using standard methods.
The device supports fingerprint scanning and a backlit touch keypad. It allows access for multiple users, offers temporary code functionality, and integrates with the Ring app and Alexa voice assistant.
- Fingerprint scanner and touch keypad
- Control via Ring app and Alexa
- Temporary access codes and scheduled entry
- Powered by a removable battery without wiring
Internet connectivity is provided through Amazon Sidewalk rather than home Wi-Fi. This network is formed from neighbors' Echo speakers and Ring cameras. The device costs $249 and comes in black, silver, and brass finishes.
