Ministry of Industry and Trade approves new technological fee

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has approved an order introducing a technological fee on imported smartphones and laptops. The new measure will affect the electronics market from the beginning of next year, significantly changing the pricing policy for end consumers.

Main parameters of the fee

• The basic rate is 373 rubles for smartphones and 746 rubles for laptops.

The tax amount depends directly on the presence of product marking. If the device has mandatory marking, the rate is reduced by one third: to 250 rubles for smartphones and 500 rubles for laptops.

Lack of marking leads to increased burden on importers. In this case, the fee for smartphones will be 496 rubles, and for laptops it will increase to 992 rubles.

New taxation rules will come into force on December 1. It is expected that the increase in costs will lead to a rise in retail prices for electronics in Russia.
