Ledger Unveils Secure Smartphone Wallet Atom
Ledger has introduced the Atom crypto wallet, designed as an Android smartphone. Priced at $899, the device is aimed at providing maximum security for storing digital assets.
The device's architecture is split into two independent systems: standard Android for daily tasks and a dedicated Ledger OS running on a secure chip. All transactions are verified and signed in a secure mode, preventing the compromise of private keys.
Hardware protection is ensured by several specific features:
- A physical switch completely cuts power to the camera and microphone
- Encrypted messaging between Atom devices
- Use of post-quantum cryptography algorithms
- Tamper sensors operate on a separate battery even when the device is turned off
Special attention has been paid to AI integration. For agents like OpenClaw, spending limits are set: they can spend up to $100 independently, after which physical confirmation from the owner is required.
The development was driven by counterfeit incidents. Fake Ledger wallets with built-in implants that harvested seed phrases were sold through Asian resellers. These devices are linked to the theft of over $86 million in cryptocurrency.
The device is not intended to replace a regular phone: eSIM supports data transmission only, not voice calls. Pre-orders are available with a $100 deposit for $849 for early buyers. Official deliveries are scheduled for summer 2027 following certification.
