Critical Electrum Vulnerability Requires Immediate Update
Developers of the lightweight Bitcoin wallet Electrum have released an urgent version 4.8.3 update, addressing a critical vulnerability in previous releases. According to available data, attackers have already successfully targeted users, resulting in the loss of funds for at least one investor.
The vulnerability allows a malicious server to intercept outgoing transactions. An attacker can block payment submission to the network and replace the recipient's address with their own, deceiving the user.
Electrum is one of the oldest and most reputable lightweight wallets for Bitcoin. The application supports only BTC and does not work with altcoins, making it a stable choice for basic operations.
