Artificial Intelligence Broke Food Photos at Just Eat

British food delivery service Just Eat has faced comical consequences from an experiment using artificial intelligence to generate images of dishes.

Instead of familiar product photos, the neural network created absurd and frightening compositions, turning restaurant menus into something resembling a circus.

Instead of appetizing shrimp, users saw a plate with tiger cubs; a traditional British dish was replaced by an image of a toad in the dirt, and baked potato transformed into a down jacket with a matching print.

The company has already apologized for the unsuccessful images, begun deleting them, and suspended the experiment.
