New Claude model from Anthropic predicts user intentions
Anthropic is developing a new version of the Claude model capable of recognizing users' true intentions even with incomplete task descriptions. This technology allows AI to propose unconventional solutions and identify deep-seated goals that humans may not explicitly articulate.
Examples of Application
In programming, the model demonstrates the ability to go beyond direct requests. When asked to fix a specific bug, the AI analyzes the context, identifies a class of related issues, and proposes a comprehensive solution for the entire system, rather than just correcting code lines.
In the financial sector, the new model can generate original algorithms for predicting stock prices. Instead of standard recommendations to study financial reports and diversify portfolios, the AI creates its own analysis methods based on understanding the investor's hidden motives.
Shift in Interaction Paradigm
Traditional interaction with AI was built on strictly following user instructions. The new architecture shifts the focus to analyzing incomplete information and reconstructing assumed motives. The system offers solutions to tasks the user has not yet realized or articulated.
This process resembles Benjamin Libet's 1983 experiment, which showed that movement preparation in the brain begins before conscious human intention. Similarly, AI now starts forming the final goal before the person finishes verbalizing it.
Parallels with Human Perception
Models are already able to read non-verbal signals from text messages. Based on word choice, their order, the number of errors, and punctuation, AI determines the user's psycho-emotional state. This allows the system to interpret requests considering tone and mood.
Practical cases show that AI might ignore strict restrictions for the sake of user convenience. For example, if a ban on saving files outside the project contradicts work comfort logic, the model may offer an alternative solution, explaining it as an improvement in user experience.
