AI Claude reported shooting plans to police

A 30-year-old Florida resident used the AI assistant chatbot Claude as a personal diary, which led to her arrest.

The woman shared deep feelings with the neural network and wrote about her intention to carry out a shooting at the sheriff's office. In the dialogue, she also boasted about having a new pistol.

Anthropic analyzed the correspondence and passed potentially dangerous messages to law enforcement. Police raided the woman's home and charged her with written threats of violence.
