Anthropic Blocks Claude Users via VPN

Anthropic has begun mass-banning Claude user accounts that employ VPNs to access the service. Complaints have primarily come from Hong Kong and Russia.

Security notifications cite suspicious activity and violations of the platform's terms of use. Access is suspended with an offer to appeal, though this does not always help.

Many users are informed of a final decision without the possibility of restoring access. The ban even affected the head of Yandex's transactional AI division, forcing him to return to Codex.

Russia and Hong Kong are not on the list of supported regions. The service rules explicitly warn about the risks of bypassing restrictions: from warnings to complete account termination.
