AI Models Block Creation of Paid Software Clones
Users have discovered that Codex and Claude models refuse to create free alternatives to paid software. AI assistants cite security concerns when attempting reverse engineering.
Claude begins the task but the process is interrupted by security protection systems. Attempts to bypass this restriction by rephrasing the prompt yield no results.
In ChatGPT, using such methods can lead to permanent account bans without the possibility of refunding subscription fees. No official statements from OpenAI or Anthropic on this matter have been released.
The restrictions affected the following projects:
- REA (Reverse Engineer Anything) — an MCP server for analyzing binary files, Electron apps, APKs, and firmware
- dumbtv and cleanyourtv projects — tools for removing pre-installed bloatware from Android TV, Google TV, and Fire TV firmware
The Chinese model DeepSeek currently does not show similar restrictions.
