Game Ban Due to Used Processor
Buying used PC components can lead to unexpected issues with access to online games. A player from Germany faced a ban after purchasing an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor on the Kleinanzeigen platform.
The game Valorant began kicking the user out of every match immediately after installing this processor. No such problems occurred when using old equipment, indicating the cause lay in the new component.
Riot Games support explained the situation by stating that this processor had been added to the Vanguard anti-cheat blacklist as early as August 12. The previous owner of the hardware was caught cheating and received the punishment.
A key feature of the security system is that these bans are tied not to the player's account, but directly to the hardware itself. Therefore, the penalty automatically transferred to the new owner along with the purchased processor.
The main difficulty of the situation is that it is technically impossible to check a used processor or graphics card for existing bans before purchase. This means that on the secondary market, one can acquire not only hardware but also the negative reputation of the previous owner.
