Tesla Unveils Jet-Powered Flying Roadster

Tesla unveiled the new two-seater Roadster at the SpaceX facility in Texas. Elon Musk demonstrated the capabilities of the flying car, which uses jet nozzles instead of propellers.

The vehicle is equipped with 10 nozzles and high-pressure air tanks. This system operates both for ground acceleration and for flight.

Stunts performed with the prototype during the presentation included:

  • the car attached itself to a steep ramp and hung upside down
  • it launched off the ramp, flipped in the air, and landed on air jets
  • it jumped over a row of parked Tesla vehicles

According to Elon Musk, the Roadster accelerates to 60 mph (97 km/h) in less than a second. The demonstration was conducted without a driver to ensure safety.

Production is scheduled to begin in 2028, though timelines may shift. The creator himself acknowledged that the project's success is not guaranteed.
