Starlink Loses Connection on Ukrainian Drones: Causes and Consequences
SpaceX has limited the operation of military Starshield terminals in Ukraine without prior notice. At speeds exceeding 160 km/h, connectivity on these devices begins to drop, which is critical for drones and military equipment.
The terminals provide real-time communication during movement and help adjust strikes. According to an advisor to the President of Ukraine, the lack of warning led to the disruption of several military missions.
SpaceX did not explain the reasons for the restrictions. This coincides with Washington's pressure on Kyiv regarding long-range drone strikes on oil refineries and Elon Musk's statements that Zelensky went too far.
Ukrainian Developers Create an Alternative
In response to dependence on the American provider, Ukrainian company Stetman is developing its own satellite communication system, UASAT-NANO. The project aims to reduce reliance on SpaceX technologies.
