Starlink in Ukraine: Restoration of Connectivity and Reasons for Restrictions

Ukraine's Defense Minister announced the restoration of stable operation for the Starlink satellite internet system. Connectivity is now functioning at speeds exceeding 400 km/h, which is critical for military operations.

Restoration of Service

Previously, since mid-October, terminals on the front lines were disconnected upon reaching speeds of 130–161 km/h. This was linked to restrictions imposed on high-speed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Who Imposed and Lifted Restrictions

No official confirmation has been provided regarding the reasons for the restrictions and their subsequent lifting. Various sources provide contradictory information:

• Trump stated that the White House had no involvement
• The Telegraph reported that Elon Musk himself proposed limiting the network
• WSJ reported that on October 21, Trump demanded Musk lift the restrictions

President Zelensky confirmed the existence of restrictions on October 23. A day later, connectivity was restored without official explanations.
