Russian Railways Expands Open-Plan Carriages
Russian Railways has begun modernizing long-distance train cars to address the issue of cramped space in open-plan compartments. Specifically, this involves widening aisles and sleeping berths to enhance passenger comfort.
The Tver Car-Building Plant has already started producing new open-plan carriages according to the updated Gauge T standard. This project aims to solve the problem of passengers' legs hanging into the aisle, which is common in older rolling stock models.
The new carriages feature larger sleeping areas and wider corridors. This allows passengers to feel significantly more free during long journeys.
