Raspberry Pi Price Hike: New Prices for 2GB Models

Raspberry Pi has announced price increases for the 2GB versions of the Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 boards. The main factor driving the cost increase is the ongoing high price of LPDDR4 and LPDDR5 RAM.

The new retail prices are $77.50 for the Raspberry Pi 5 2GB model (a 19% increase) and $67.50 for the Raspberry Pi 4 2GB model (a 23% increase).

In 2026, this marks the third price hike within a year. Prices were previously raised in February and April; while lower-end models were protected from cost reductions at that time, the company now acknowledges it can no longer maintain low pricing tiers.

  • The cost of the Raspberry Pi 5 2GB has risen from $50 to $77.50 (+55% since launch)
  • The 16GB version increased from $120 to $220
  • Prices for single-gigabyte models and Compute Modules remain unchanged

Previously, enthusiasts could save money by purchasing cheaper boards and soldering memory chips themselves. However, the manufacturer has blocked this option by locking the memory capacity at the firmware level during manufacturing.

The company promises to lower prices if component costs decrease. In the current situation, it is recommended to use Raspberry Pi 3 models or purchase devices with strictly the required amount of RAM.
