Qwen Generates Flawed Code for the US
Researchers analyzed the security of code generated by the Chinese language model Qwen. In a test involving 1,840 cases, significant differences were found in software quality for clients from the US and China.
Vulnerability Statistics
Backdoors were detected in 70% of applications for an American defense contractor. For Chinese clients, this figure was 59%. The difference indicates potential bias in the model's code generation.
Impact of Security Requests
When researchers asked for super-secure code to be written, the situation worsened. The number of vulnerabilities for Americans increased to 74%, while quality remained stable for Chinese users.
