OpenAI launches public Decisions API for fast decisions

OpenAI has released the public version of the Decisions API, designed for fast and cost-effective decision-making based on the GPT-6 Luna model. This tool allows processing bulk requests, returning structured probabilities, scores, or selections from given options.

The tool is positioned as an alternative to Jev, capable of answering hundreds of questions simultaneously. A key innovation is image support: input data can now include not only text but also images via URL or base64 format.

The Decisions API is optimized for tasks requiring high speed and low computational costs. Main use cases include:

  • Analyzing product photos for damage, providing a probability score from 0 to 1
  • Classifying document types to automatically select the processing route
  • Detecting error messages on user interface screenshots

The public version expands technical capabilities. The maximum number of questions per request has increased from 100 to 400. Support for structured JSON input and context caching has been added, reducing overall costs for users.

According to developers, the Decisions API operates 10 times faster than GPT-6 Luna via the standard Responses API. Processing costs start at $0.10 per million input tokens.
