OpenAI and Anthropic restrict free app clone creation
OpenAI and Anthropic have restricted the creation of free clones of popular AI-powered apps — users can no longer create personal alternatives to Photoshop, PowerPoint, and other software.
This is because a month ago, users began using the REA library**, which allows for reverse engineering of applications and the creation of custom equivalents.
Now the restrictions have tightened**: Claude blocks such requests with safety filters, while Codex and ChatGPT may ban users for employing REA. It is likely that major companies started losing revenue due to free alternatives. However, there is no confirmation of this theory.
