New Stanford Prison Experiment from Netflix
Netflix has released a new Stanford Prison Experiment in the format of a reality show. The project consists of six episodes, each 45 minutes long.
The essence of the experiment lies in dividing participants into roles of prisoners and guards. They are placed in conditions simulating a prison for several days to observe their behavior.
Researchers are studying how power and prison hierarchy affect the moral principles of an ordinary person.
The original 1971 experiment turned out to be scandalous and was stopped prematurely. Guards began humiliating prisoners, which went out of control of the organizers.
Netflix's new project aims to complete the study under constant video surveillance. The reality show format allows recording all stages of participant interaction.
