Mastercard launches global platform for stablecoin payments
Mastercard has launched the Global Money Platform to enable payments in stablecoins worldwide. The service combines fiat currencies and digital assets, allowing companies to store, convert funds, and send money to bank accounts.
Technological Foundation
The platform is built on BVNK technology, acquired by the payment giant in August for $1.8 billion. This solution enables businesses to issue payment cards for purchases made in stablecoins.
Global Scale and Development Plans
Card issuance is currently available in more than 130 countries. By 2027, Mastercard plans to expand payout capabilities to over 200 countries and territories, significantly increasing its user reach.
