KPRF proposes returning the name Leningrad to St

KPRF proposes renaming St. Petersburg to Leningrad

A bill providing for the return of the city's historical name, Leningrad, may be considered within the year. The initiative comes from the KPRF party. Previously, deputies from this same political force repeatedly proposed renaming Volgograd back to Stalingrad.

In the case of St. Petersburg, this initiative is the first in the history of such proposals. Media note that among the public there are alternative renaming options that may be considered more preferable than the proposed bill.
