Internet in Russia May Rise 10% Due to Data Center
Market participants have assessed a potential 10% increase in the cost of internet services in Russia due to new requirements from the Ministry of Digital Development (MinTsifry) regarding data center protection. The ministry's recommendations propose strengthening security measures for telecommunications operators and hosting providers.
The Ministry of Digital Development has developed an infrastructure object categorization system, dividing them into three groups: strategic, socially or economically significant, and corporate data centers.
To ensure physical protection, the implementation of data redundancy and coordination of business actions with law enforcement agencies is planned. Special attention is paid to first-category objects, which are proposed to be located in underground structures, rock formations, and bunkers.
Implementing such security measures requires significant investments in infrastructure, which may lead to an increase in tariffs for end consumers of internet services.
