Hackers Who Hacked Dodo Pizza Arrested
Law enforcement officers have arrested three of the four members of the group responsible for the massive hack of the "Dodo Pizza" network. The detainees include Russian, Kazakhstani, and Belarusian citizens.
The entire criminal group was identified thanks to a 19-year-old native of Barnaul. By logging into the stolen data array, he failed to hide his real IP address, which allowed law enforcement agencies to track him down.
Before the incident with "Dodo Pizza," the suspect trained on hacking Ukrainian websites. The entry point for the attack was company credentials that were publicly available on the GitHub platform.
Using these credentials, hackers gained access to corporate services, cloud storage, and databases. According to experts, the volume of the leak amounted to about 3.7 TB, exceeding 33 billion records.
Scale of the Data Leak
- 862 million orders placed over 15 years of the chain's operation
- 68 million client profiles and 171 million delivery addresses
- Personal data of 431 thousand company employees
The criminals sold the leaked database on the black market for $100,000 in cryptocurrency. After the arrest of the first participant, the others changed their passwords and cut him off from the wallet.
However, the two remaining suspects also failed to use the money, as they were soon taken into custody. The fourth member of the group is currently at large and appears to be the only one who retained access to the cryptocurrency wallet.
Experts confirm that customer data has already spread across the internet. The incident highlights the critical importance of secure credential storage and access control to external repositories.
