Russian renters choose direct deals with property owners
Most Russians prefer to rent property directly from owners, reflecting a shift in preferences within the real estate market. According to Konstantin Kameneyev of Avito Real Estate, such listings account for a significant share of advertisements and demand.
A notable trend is the growing interest in regions. In September, one in four Muscovites searched for rental housing in the Moscow Region, where average rates are roughly half those in the capital. Meanwhile, the region's transport and social infrastructure continues to develop actively.
Factors influencing housing choice
Tenants are willing to pay extra for their ideal option: 80% of renters would increase their budget by 15%, and in Moscow by 16–17%, if they really like the apartment. Owners respond in kind, considering financial stability (50%) and long-term lease duration (41%). For 40% of landlords, a pleasant personal impression remains the decisive factor.
