Democrats win Texas elections

Texas, traditionally a Republican stronghold, may for the first time in 30 years elect a Democrat as governor. Gina Hinojosa defeated incumbent Governor Greg Abbott, who held the post for three terms.

Senate races and Musk's spending

In the election, Democrats also won a US Senate seat from Texas. James Talarico defeated Republican Ken Paxton, ending the Democratic losing streak in the state since 1988. Elon Musk spent over $200 million supporting Republican candidates.
