Crypto Theft via DarkSword Virus in iOS 18

Russian citizens are losing cryptocurrency due to the DarkSword malware, which exploits vulnerabilities in iOS 18. Infection occurs when visiting websites via the Safari browser.

Attack Mechanism

The malicious software spreads through ad banners on adult content websites. A single click on an ad is enough for the code to infiltrate the smartphone and gain access to Trust Wallet accounts.

Loss Statistics

Total damages caused by attackers have already exceeded $5.57 million. In one instance, a woman lost $16,000 after clicking a link while looking for video content featuring Alexey Panin, who is included in the Russian registry of extremists.
