Crypto Projects Replace Tokens with Company Shares
Major crypto projects, such as Across Protocol and Centrifuge, are abandoning their native tokens in favor of company shares.
Initiatives to transition to a corporate share model are gaining momentum. Polymarket, valued at $21 billion, is also considering going public via an IPO instead of issuing a token.
Reasons for the strategic shift
- Declining investor interest in new tokens
- High regulatory risks in the digital assets sector
- Difficulties in attracting institutional capital
CoinGecko statistics show that less than 10% of new tokens posted gains after listing on major exchanges between January 2025 and February 2026. This is forcing companies to seek more stable financial instruments.
