Collapse of Alta Banka: Russian Woman Loses €270,000

An 83-year-old blind Russian woman lost all her funds due to the collapse of Alta Banka in Serbia. She had €270,000 in her accounts after selling her house, but didn't have time to use them, Baza reports.

Shortly before the bank closed, the woman decided to sell her home in Canada and move to Serbia to be with her daughter. On Saturday, she flew to Belgrade, only to find that her funds were frozen.

The woman now hopes for at least an insurance payout of €50,000.
