Fuxi Robot from NORINCO for Order Maintenance
State-owned corporation NORINCO is preparing to deploy the Fuxi humanoid for public order maintenance and joint patrols with armed police. The robots are already undergoing trial operations.
The Fuxi model was first publicly presented in August at the World Robot Conference in Beijing. At that time, the device was described as a full-size humanoid designed for reconnaissance, guard duty, and territory patrolling.
As part of current tests, the robot is equipped with a protective shield and baton. Its capabilities include:
- recognizing suspicious individuals and automatically raising alarms
- physically pushing people back using a shield and wielding a baton
- performing marching maneuvers alongside other equipment units
- switching to remote control by mimicking the operator's movements in real-time
To program its movements, developers used recordings of armed police officers' actions, allowing the robot to accurately replicate tactical techniques used by law enforcement.
Detailed technical specifications of the device have not been disclosed. Chinese media have already drawn parallels between Fuxi and robots from the movie "Terminator," while social media users have expressed concerns about such machines confronting humans.
