Canva offers grants and salary during staff reductions
Canva has conducted a large-scale staff reduction, laying off 1200 employees, which accounts for 22% of the entire workforce. However, the company did not leave departing workers without support and offered them an extended benefits package.
Laid-off employees were promised to keep their MacBooks, receive salary payments for six months, and have medical insurance for a year. Additionally, each employee will get access to LinkedIn Premium for 12 months.
Special attention is given to supporting entrepreneurial initiatives: upon approval of an application, each laid-off employee can receive a grant of $10,000 USD to start their own business. This decision is seen as an example of the most humane approach to layoffs.
