Bank of England raises rate to 4%
The Bank of England raised its key interest rate to 4% for the first time in three years due to inflation rising to 3.5% in September.
The indicator grew by 0.25%, reaching a level of 4%. This is the first change in monetary policy since 2023.
In September, inflation in the UK reached 3.5% — the highest figure in the last 11 months. The central bank is responding to this price growth by adjusting the cost of borrowing.
