Anthropic introduces autonomous AI agent Claude Duet

Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, a personal AI agent based on the Opus 5.5 model, capable of initiating interaction without waiting for user commands.

The agent runs on a dedicated virtual machine with a browser, allowing it to function around the clock independently of the state of personal devices.

Each morning, the system sends a summary of important events, and then independently checks email, messengers, and financial accounts every few hours.

The agent's main capabilities include:

  • scheduling meetings and identifying calendar conflicts
  • generating reports, financial forecasts, dashboards, and web applications
  • integration with over 6,000 services, including Gmail, Slack, Stripe, HubSpot, and Shopify
  • making purchases via a virtual Stripe card

Before performing critical actions such as sending emails, making payments, or deleting data, the agent requests permission from the user. Trading securities and transferring funds between accounts remain strictly prohibited, even with explicit consent.

Developers warn of potential errors in interpreting correspondence context and assessing task urgency. Currently, access to Claude Duet is available via a waitlist exclusively for Pro and Max subscribers in the US.
