Volkswagen Recalls ID.4 Electric Vehicles Due to Battery Fire Risk
Volkswagen is recalling 22,500 ID.4 electric vehicles from the 2023–2026 model years due to the risk of high-voltage battery fires. Engineers have not yet determined the exact cause of the defect.
Until repairs are carried out, the manufacturer recommends that owners limit their battery charge to a maximum of 80%. This is a temporary safety measure to prevent potential fires.
This campaign marks the third major recall for the ID.4 model this year.
- In January, approximately 44,000 vehicles were recalled in the US
- In March, roughly 94,000 electric vehicles were affected in Europe
- In some cases, full replacement of battery modules was required
Details regarding the fire risk and the recall procedure are available on the official Autoblog website.
