Vibecoder Finds Exoplanet Using AI
A developer known as Vibecoder detected a signal in NASA telescope archive data resembling an exoplanet transit. He used the capabilities of Claude and ChatGPT neural networks for analysis.
Over two weeks, the author wrote more than a thousand scripts using Claude Code and Codex. He performed 74 data checks to separate noise from real astronomical phenomena.
Calculations indicate the existence of a planet with a radius about 1.4 times that of Earth. A year on this celestial body lasts slightly more than three days.
NASA's plans to confirm the discovery
- The discovery currently lacks official confirmation from the scientific community.
- The TESS mission plans to search for confirmation in November this year.
- The author pre-calculated the date of the next eclipse for observations.
