US to Allow Import of Russian Diesel Fuel Until 2027

Donald Trump announced the successful conclusion of negotiations with Vladimir Putin, during which an agreement was reached for urgent supplies of Russian diesel fuel to US and global markets.

The supply plan includes more than 300,000 tons immediately, another 500,000 tons in November, and one million tons shortly thereafter. Given the state of Russia's oil refineries, volumes could increase up to three million tons.

Trump links the drop in diesel prices to full control over the Strait of Hormuz and the announcement of Russian supplies. He emphasized that lowering prices for Americans, including farmers and truck drivers, is the top priority.

The statement also noted Iran's lack of nuclear weapons as an important outcome of the negotiations.

The US Department of the Treasury has temporarily permitted operations involving the sale, supply, discharge, and import of diesel fuel of Russian origin, including its entry into the country.

This sanctions regime will remain in effect until April 7, 2027, effectively lifting restrictions on trade in this energy resource.
