Trump announces Russian diesel supplies to lower prices
US President Donald Trump announced an agreement with Vladimir Putin regarding diesel fuel supplies. Russia has committed to immediately send more than 300,000 tons of the product to the US and global markets.
Additional supply volumes are planned for November at 500,000 tons, followed by another 1 million tons. In the short term, a further 3 million tons is expected, taking into account the current state of Russian oil refineries.
Impact on prices and economic priorities
Trump claims that US control over the Strait of Hormuz combined with Russian supplies will allow for a rapid and significant reduction in diesel fuel prices both in America and worldwide. Among his main economic priorities, he named reducing costs for key industries.
