Tesla to release flying Roadster sports car with SpaceX
Tesla, in partnership with SpaceX, is developing a new electric Roadster capable of performing aerial stunts and reaching ultra-high speeds. The presentation showcased the vehicle's ability to jump using gas boosters and perform backflips.
Surface adhesion technology relies on a fan system that creates a suction effect. This allows the car to safely move upside down on special ramps during flight demonstrations.
The model will be available in three versions with different performance metrics
- Performance: 0-60 mph in under 1.6 seconds
- Thrust: acceleration in under 0.9 seconds with additional gas boosters
- Rocket: acceleration in under 0.59 seconds, a single-seater version for aerial stunts
The Rocket version is intended exclusively for special venues and is not permitted on regular public roads. Other variants retain the functionality of a standard sports car.
Manufacturers promise a range of over 480 kilometers and a top speed of more than 370 kilometers per hour. The exact price has not been disclosed, and mass production is scheduled for 2028.
