Research on the technological advancement of Russian telecom operators

J’son & Partners Consulting conducted a large-scale study evaluating Russia's four largest telecommunications operators based on their level of technological development. Experts used six key areas for a comprehensive assessment: research and development (R&D), customer-facing technologies, products for business and government sectors, workforce training, and time-to-market speed.

Market leadership ranking

Based on the analysis results, MTSC took first place, scoring 83% of the maximum possible points. Rostelecom/T2 followed in second with 70%, then Beeline with 60%, and MegaFon with 54%. MTSC's leadership is largely due to its significant number of patents, which account for more than half of all operator applications in this field.

Key evaluation factors

In addition to patent activity, the ranking also considered implemented artificial intelligence solutions. These innovations include smart assistants, intelligent call recording features, and noise cancellation systems. The breadth of product portfolios for corporate clients and the public sector also carried additional weight, highlighting the importance of service diversification by operators.
