Starknet v0.14.4: Increased Gas Limit and Sequencer Improvements

The main Starknet network is scheduled for a v0.14.4 upgrade, introducing significant changes to the network's architecture and economics.

Increased Computation Limits

According to the SNIP-36 standard, transactions can now confirm computations with a gas volume of up to 1.1 billion L2 units. This allows applications to perform calculations beyond standard limits by paying for them as proof rather than execution.

Gas Calculation Adjustment

The gas accounting mechanism will more accurately reflect actual costs. According to developer estimates, the cost change for the vast majority of transactions will be less than 1% based on recent mainnet activity.

Technical Improvements

The API update includes removing deprecated gateway endpoints and changing requirements for contract class and pre-confirmed block requests. Additionally, the block committer component is being moved to Apollo to improve sequencer efficiency.
