Spider 30 Robot Walks on Walls and Ceilings
South Korean company DIDEN Robotics has introduced the Spider 30 quadruped robot, capable of moving along steel walls, curved structures, and ceilings. The device is equipped with electromagnetic paws that allow it to adhere to surfaces without continuous power supply.
Technical Features
The robot can carry a payload of up to 30 kg. The holding system operates using direct current: a single electrical pulse switches the magnetic state, after which the paw maintains constant grip on the metal.
- Real-time status assessment
- Autonomous route planning
- Reinforcement learning-based gait transferred from simulation
Built-in algorithms simultaneously control paw contact, holding force, and body posture, ensuring stable movement on vertical and horizontal planes.
Practical Application
Spider 30 successfully passed welding tests on ship blocks at Samsung Heavy Industries. The South Korean giant has already signed a contract to purchase devices for implementation in production processes.
