Spending on Blocking Systems in Russia to Double
Russia's spending on internet blocking systems will double: over the next three years, 60 billion rubles are planned to be spent on modernization and maintaining restrictions. VPN service providers have also reported widespread DDoS attacks.
Budget plans have undergone significant changes
Just two years ago, a similar three-year period was planned to be allocated 32 billion rubles. Now, about 20 billion rubles are intended to be directed annually to modernize technical means of counteracting threats (TSPU), which significantly exceeds previous estimates.
According to experts, the sharp increase in the budget is due not only to an increase in the volume of tasks but also to objective economic factors. The cost has been affected by a shortage of components and their price increase, as traffic filtering equipment requires powerful processors and large amounts of memory.
Problems with access to blocked resources are being exacerbated by technical attacks
Alongside financial issues, there is an increase in technical pressure on bypass tools. Since yesterday, VPN service providers have begun recording massive DDoS attacks aimed at disrupting the stability of their operations.
