Solana Launches Alpenglow Upgrade to Speed Up Transactions

A major consensus upgrade called Alpenglow is underway on the Solana blockchain, marking the largest update in the network's history. Activation is scheduled for epoch 1064 and is expected to begin around 12:20 PM ET.

The main advantage of the update is a significant acceleration in transaction finality. Confirmation time will drop from approximately 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds, making the network nearly 85 times faster.
