New rules for exporting cars to China will impact

Prices for Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen cars in Russia may rise or these models may disappear from the market completely. The reason is new export control restrictions in China, which come into force on January 1, 2027.

New rules require manufacturers to prove the availability of service and spare parts abroad. If proper maintenance is not possible, selling cars to this country is prohibited.

Cars from departed Western brands are at risk, but problems may also affect Chinese brands. AvtoVAZ faces similar difficulties, for which Beijing offers assistance.
