Poland Busts Money Laundering Network Worth 337 Million Zloty

Polish authorities have uncovered a large international money laundering network. Between February 2025 and July 2026, it processed 337 million zloty, equivalent to approximately $86.6 million.

Fraud Scheme

Funds originated from internet scammers posing as bank and investment platform employees. Perpetrators heavily utilized the BLIK payment system to launder stolen assets.

Drivers in luxury vehicles collected cash by presenting photos of torn banknotes with serial numbers. Crypto exchanges further verified secret codes on phones to bypass AML checks.

Money was routed through bank accounts of affiliated companies, smuggled abroad via car compartments, and disguised as fake gold purchases. Most funds were ultimately converted into cryptocurrencies.

Suspect Arrests

According to prosecutors, eight individuals were detained, including Ukrainian citizens and one Belarusian national.

Among those implicated were employees and managers of exchange offices, as well as couriers.

Seven suspects are currently held in custody.

Defendants face up to 15 years in prison.
