Plague Outbreak in Irkutsk: Consequences of the Institute Incident

A plague outbreak was recorded in Irkutsk following an incident at the anti-plague institute. A lab technician broke a vial containing the pathogen strain, resulting in the employee's death and hospitalization of approximately two hundred people.

The Head of Buryatia confirmed the death of the woman who worked with the dangerous pathogen. In the Irkutsk region, large-scale work is underway to identify infected individuals; some patients are showing symptoms of the infectious disease.
